Ongoing project - open for funding

The project is open for funding. Help us create enthusiasm for IT topics and support young people as they take their first steps into future topics such as AI, software development and robotics.

That's what it's all about

Understanding and mastering the technologies of the future. In our vacation camps, we motivate our participants for the versatile subject of computer science, break down barriers and prejudices and playfully guide them through their first steps in coding, programming and development.
The camps are held in the modern environment of our computer science teaching and learning laboratory and are supervised by staff and students from the computer science teaching degree program. Insights into current research projects and excursions to IT companies round off the program.

What we want to achieve

Our goal is to accompany pupils from middle school right through to their computer science studies and to not only ignite their motivation for computer science with a lot of fun and passion for the subject, but to continue to inspire them.

With our one-week vacation camps, we give pupils their first insights into the world of computer science. For the younger participants, we focus on understanding diversity in the IT world and breaking down prejudices. A separate camp just for girls aims to break down barriers and get more girls interested in IT. The older participants (from year 10) can delve deeper into complex topics such as artificial intelligence or software development. Our supervisors from the computer science teacher training program are experienced in fuelling the thirst for research of the often highly motivated participants.

Further information about the project

We offer the following camps throughout the school year:
Science Camp Computer Science
Only for girls in grades 8-10. Several small projects on the topics of web coding, IT security, computer graphics, robotics, as well as exciting insights into research projects and IT companies.
Science Camp AI
From grade 10: In addition to a short introduction to Python and machine learning, we create our own data set and classify it with a neural network.
Science Camp MakeIT
From grade 8: We develop our own game console - from the hardware to the finished game.
Science Camp Software Development
Online camp from grade 10: We get to the bottom of the question of how software is actually created and develop an online multiplayer game.
Science Camp Digital
Online camp from grade 8: We use HTML, CSS and Java Script to create our own website.
In more than 10 years, we have observed that a large number of participants in the Science Camps have now gone on to study at school or directly to study computer science. In this way, our camps also help the pupils with their study orientation and ensure motivated young people in computer science studies, where they are trained to become the urgently needed IT specialists for the job market.
