Ron Kikinis receives this year's "International Excellence Award of KIT" and the "Fellowship of SCHROFF Foundation"

Every year, the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) presents the "International Excellence Award of KIT" and the "Fellowship of SCHROFF Foundation" to an internationally recognized scientific personality from abroad in recognition of the person's overall achievements to date. Researchers from all disciplines and all countries can be nominated for this award if their research has had a lasting impact on their specialist field beyond their narrow field of work and also addresses the global social challenges of the 21st century and issues of the future.

Ron Kikinis, Professor of Radiology at Harvard Medical School (HMS) in Boston, receives this year' s "International Excellence Award of KIT" and the "Fellowship of SCHROFF Foundation". The Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) is thus honoring the world-renowned expert in the fields of medical image processing, image-based therapy and biomedical informatics. The award is associated with a research stay of up to six months at the KIT to carry out a research project of his own choice in cooperation with the nominating scientists at the KIT.

The award is supplemented by the "Fellowship of SCHROFF Foundation" as a scholarship to secure the living expenses of the honored person during the stay of up to half a year at KIT.

The Gunther Schroff Foundation for Scientific Purposes has been supporting the initiative of the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) for several years to award this important scientific prize to internationally renowned scientists. Many thanks for this great commitment.
