Renewed Funding for Science Camps@TRIANGEL Kids Lab
The summer of 2026 will once again be all about research, technology, and creativity: For the third time, the successful Science Camps@TRIANGEL Kids Lab, in collaboration with the Center for Technology-Enhanced Learning, is inviting young people to experience science and technology up close. At KIT’s TRIANGEL Transfer | Culture | Space, they can conduct research, tinker, experiment, and bring their own ideas to life.
The Science Camps@TRIANGEL Kids Lab series offers young people hands-on insights into various STEM disciplines and allows them the space to develop their own projects and carry out their implementation as a team. Located in the heart of downtown Karlsruhe, the TRIANGEL Transfer | Kultur | Raum on Kronenplatz offers an open space for inspiration, creativity, exchange, and collaboration. At the intersection of science, business, and society, it creates the ideal conditions for sparking young people’s enthusiasm for research and technology.
This year, the project is being funded with generous support from the Gips-Schüle Foundation, the Karl Schlecht Foundation (KSG), the Schroff Foundations, and the KIT Foundation. We extend our heartfelt thanks for this tremendous commitment.
The final presentation of the “Science Camp Electrical Engineering – Automation in Everyday Life,” which took place from August 2 to 7, 2026, demonstrated just how effective this support is. For one week, teenagers aged 14 to 16 explored how technical solutions can make everyday life easier. Working in small groups, they programmed microcontrollers, tested sensors and actuators, and used these components to develop their own functional projects. At the closing event, they presented their results to guests, family members, project participants, and representatives of the funding foundations. Their dedication, creativity, and enthusiasm for technology were impressively evident.
Behind this success lies the dedication of many participants. The Science Camps@TRIANGEL Kids Lab are a joint project of KIT’s Center for Technology-Enhanced Learning (ZML), TRIANGEL | Transfer | Culture | Space, and the Student Academy. KIT scientists, students, and experts provide the young participants with both technical and personal guidance throughout the entire camp week and support them in developing their projects.
Furthermore, it was clearly evident that the impact of the Science Camps@TRIANGEL Kids Lab stems not solely from the imparting of technical knowledge. Equally important are the personal guidance, teamwork, and the experience of being able to bring their own ideas to life independently. Financial support creates the necessary framework for this—and the exceptional dedication of all those involved brings this framework to life.
It also became clear that the impact of the Science Camps extends far beyond the teaching of technical knowledge.
