Review - 3rd KIT Foundation Day

On October 23, 2025, the Foundation Day took place for the third time at the Karlsruhe Institute of Technology (KIT) and offered a valuable platform for dialog between foundations and science. Numerous representatives from the foundation landscape accepted the invitation to the TRIANGEL Transfer | Kultur | Raum in Karlsruhe to find out about current developments at KIT and make new contacts.

KIT President Professor Dr. Jan S. Hesthaven kicked off the event with a personal welcome and a keynote speech on the relationship between KIT and private foundations. Afterwards, a varied program awaited the guests: In addition to short presentations of ongoing cooperation projects between foundations and KIT, there was also a guided tour of the digital anniversary exhibition. Prof. Dr. Thomas Hirth, Vice President Transfer and International Affairs at KIT, offered the guests a review of the eventful anniversary year as well as an outlook on future developments.

Particularly impressive were the practical insights of the KIT scientists, who conveyed complex research topics in an understandable and lively way. Projects such as the 3D printing of human heart valves or the use of artificial intelligence to discover new species met with great interest and encouraged professional exchange.

In addition to the content-related impulses, the Foundation Day also offered numerous opportunities for discussions in a relaxed atmosphere - accompanied by culinary offerings that invited people to linger and network.

Many thanks to all those involved who contributed to the success of this day. Foundation Day 2025 impressively demonstrated the importance of cooperation between academia and foundations. With its varied program and inspiring atmosphere, it has become an integral part of foundation work at KIT.

The next Foundation Day will take place in 2027.
